I woke Monday morning as 1a.m. to the sound of my phone ringing. A good friend called to ask if I was okay. Since my daughter lives a few miles from me, I could only think “God what has happened and how do I get there?” The wind was gusting between 70 and 100+ miles per hour then. Instead this “friend” asks “Am I alright and have I lost anything?” I looked around quickly with one of the best 5 inch flashlights ever, and said, Yeah, the back fence, a bunch of tree limbs, and a good night’s sleep.”

IMG_1715Just breathe gently in and out, through your nostrils. If you can, sit down, uncross your legs , place your feet firmly on the floor with your  back straight and unsupported if possible, place your hands on your knees, with your palms facing down.

For the next few moments, permit your mind to really concentrate on  your  senses, one at a time, starting with your sense of Touch

Have you ever observed how clients can become emotional during or after a reflexology?

If your answer to this question is yes I am sure you will agree with me when I say that it is important to have the necessary knowledge and skills to treat emotional issues that can arise during a reflexology session.

Our code of ethics highlights that we as reflexologists, make wholistic evaluations (No3; 2010) considering the spiritual, psychological as well as the physical causes of ill health.  This makes us different from other therapists like psychiatry or psychology, which are more unilateral in their approach and there is still a stigma attached to attending these therapists.   (www.seechange.ie) whereas reflexology is seen as non-invasive and non-threatening.
