Love this…’What brings joy to the heart is not so much a friends gift, as the friends’s love’ (Aelred of Rievaulx 1110-1167)

Yup I know I said it before……..

Have a great Monday you guys

And yes its raining but that does not stop you  going  for that quick cuppa to catch up with an old friend in the middle of a crazy busy day.

Hugs and Love,

Good morning all from your Irish Mammy, with a question for you as the dawn is breaking on this October morning. If you could speak to your younger self right now, what would you say?

Have you ever thought what it would be like to meet  the younger you?

Based on your experience of life so far what advice- if any, would you give?

Its just a thought to get you started on a Monday morning and it is a great conversation piece for that early morning cuppa!!

Note to self

I would love to hear your comments on this fascinating subject.

And as for me well …I am going to refrain for now.

I wait to hear what you have to say.

Have a great week you guys.

Hugs and love

Good morning Ireland. It’s Your Irish Mammy here saying lets be up-beat on another wet Monday!!

It’s another  awful wet day here in the west of Ireland. And I here I am  telling you to get up and  sing hallelujah.

A sure lads me ‘ol heart’ is  not  in it.

But then again ………

Perhaps if  give ourselves another 5 minutes under the warm covers doing some stretching exercises before we get up, we might feel differently about the day ahead.

We did last Monday’s wake-up call in bed as well, remember? Yup, it was raining. What can I say we are having a shocking wet summer! Still I felt  a whole lot better after  breathing in and out, right down to my toes and back again. I hope you did as well. It would be fantastic if you continued the practice throughout the week,  as it puts a whole new slant to getting up in the morning.

Today, we are going to  imagine that we are a Big Lazy Cats  as we stretch as much as the bed allows.

So let us begin now,

  • Stretch yourself as much as much as space will allow, your arms, your legs, your fingers and toes. Link your fingers together and turn your arms around upwards and outwards.
  • When you are ready, allow your feet to slide out onto the floor, spread your toes wide. Feel the roots growing out from your feet anchoring you to the rich brown earth.
  • Straighten your body and stretch upward to the sky. Stay there for a few moments breathing gently.
  • Next, roll your body down until your fingers touch the ground. You are touching  Mother Earth which is teeming with life. Allow yourself to bring that life onto yourself with gratitude as you touch the ground and then your forehead for at least 3 times.
  • Then, roll your body upwards until you are standing upright again. Stretch, right up on your toes, arms extended, and fingers splayed, reaching for the heaven above.
    • Allow yourself to reach to the sky with gratitude to the sun that shines on you, even when it is  hidden by dark rain clouds ;sun is needed for daylight.
    • Stretch your arms out to the wind that blows through you, even when it is cold, air is needed for breath
    • And yes, open your hands to the rain, as water is the elixir of life.

So this morning , as we go about our day in the rain, let us  unite in gratitude with all creation and sing hallelujah 🙂

Note to self

Have a great Monday you guys.

See you on Wednesday.

Good Morning Ireland: We have been busy. Emotions were running high. Now it is time to Relax and Enjoy.

Below are a few simple exercises that I learned on my travels to India. They help to shut down the chattering mind, caffeine and sugar cravings, insomnia and indigestion. This happens when the sun energy is over extended and the moon energy is depleted.

Before we begin our sun and moon breathing exercise, let me add that most Yogi’s believe breathing through right nostril stimulates sun energy which warms the body by stimulating the digestive system to release nutrients necessary for activity and movement.

Alternatively, breathing through left nostril activates the cool energy of the moon which is needed for contemplation, meditation and relaxation.

The Exercise

  • Sit in an upright comfortable sitting position. As far as possible, try and keep your spine straight and your shoulders relaxed but do not force your body in any way.
  • Start the Moon Breathing by placing your right index finger on right nostril, thumb facing out and breathe in through left nostril. Do this 5 times.
  • Then change to Sun Breathing by placing your right index finger on left nostril, thumb facing down and breathe in through right nostril .Do this 5 times
  • Next, Balance the Sun and Moon breathing by placing your right index finger on right nostril, thumb facing out and breathe in through left nostril.
  • Then, place your thumb on right nostril and right index finger on left nostril and breathe in through right nostril.
  • Next, place thumb on right nostril and breathe in through left nostril following with right index finger on left nostril breathing in through right nostril. Do this 5 times.

Note to self

It sounds more complicated than it actually is.

Try it.

 It Works

And, it is a very simple way to energise the body and shut down the over active mind.

In the west we are more inclined to breathe through the right nostril which means that we don’t chill enough!! Check it out for yourself.

I did and ooops.

But hay, today is a new day in a brand new Ireland. Hurrah!!!
